Alright. I’m going to try and squeeze my remaining favorites from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week into this post. Keep in mind that there were literally thousands of looks circling the catwalks, and I certainly didn’t have time to view and write about all of them. I’m a long time Phillip Lim fan, and his name has been especially abuzz lately, because of his upcoming Target campaign (which I am extremely excited about). His collection for Spring/Summer 2014 looks completely different from the pieces heading to stores on Saturday, though. It’s mineral-inspired, sweet and strong. The iridescent hues are exciting and vibrant, but still cool. And each look would transition from the office to the club seamlessly. (more…)
There are three kinds of people when it comes to New York Fashion Week: those who are there, and those who wish they were. While I unfortunately fall into the latter group, I enjoy viewing the looks that come down the runway. Much like I did during Resort season, I’ll be sharing my favorite collections with you here. I want to preface this post by saying that I rarely ever follow runway shows. I know admitting that is a crime against the fashion community (and might make my fashion blog seem a little less credible a source for fashion inspiration), but I figure it’s better to be honest about it than pretend that all I read is Vogue and Redbook and that I lean on Karl Lagerfeld’s every whim. I am just more moved by random street style, Youtubers and random magazine spreads than what’s turning the catwalk most of the time. I do, however, find some runway looks especially exciting, which is why I want to devote at least a portion of this blog to them. And I’m hoping that doing so forces me to pay more attention to Fashion Weeks around the world. (more…)
