Shopping List: Spring & Summer Style

Ah, spring. Flowers are blooming, school years are winding down, and my allergies are on full blast. But, in between refills of Claritin-D, I had time to put together a little style collection. Here are some of the ways I would style my favorite spring and summer trends.

GARDENVARIETY

The floral pattern is synonymous with springtime, but this quilted Topshop shirt gives it a welcome update. I wanted this look to have a simple, classic feel, so I layered the top over a pair of vintage high-waisted jeans and a chunky white heel. The busyness of the shirt calls for somewhat subdued accessories, like pearl studs, retro shades, and pink lips and nails. And finally, the cutout bag maintains the ’70s style.

COTTONCANDY

I’m loving the pastel-on-pastel look this season, which is what inspired me to create this ensemble. The tulle skirt is effortless and girly, and the sweater has a lightweight, airy feel. I accessorized with a pair of robin’s egg blue ankle strap heels, a white bag and a pastel, statement necklace. I opted for pale colored yellow nail polish and pink lip gloss, for a feminine, flirty finish.

HEARTOFSTEEL

The metallic trend is unique because it has translated perfectly from winter into spring. Pairing this silvery top with a pair of white, split-knee jeans gives it a warmer quality. The marble-striped minaudière, multi-chain necklace, thick ankle-strap heels and gunmetal nail lacquer continue the cool, contemporary color story. And the plum lip crayon and round frames add a touch of purple to the outfit.

KALEIDOSCOPEDREAM

Mirrored, abstract patterns are on trend for spring, and this orange and blue mini number is great for a night out. When worn under a leather jacket with a silver necklace, it is edgy and fun. These cobalt blue lace-up heels are super sexy, especially with white nail polish. A swipe of coral pink lip gloss and a black leather shoulder bag complete this look.

SPRINGTRAINING

Athletic-inspired pieces are my favorite this season, and this baseball jersey combines the trend with a floral pattern. When worn over a skin-tight midi skirt and clear heels, the look is both feminine and fresh. Add a silver chain and a fun pair of sunglasses for an eye-catching, retro feel. Mint green nails and bright fuchsia lips are just the touches of beauty this look needs.

Which is your favorite spring trend?
